Frequently Asked
Questions
Find answers to common questions about TypeExam, SSC-pattern tests, and everything in between.
Platform Basics
Yes! Our core features including typing tests, basic analytics, and progress tracking are completely free forever. We also offer premium plans with advanced features like unlimited tests, detailed error analysis, and personalised coaching.
TypeExam is specifically designed for Indian government exam aspirants. We implement the exact SSC evaluation rules, support both English and Hindi typing, provide category-based error analysis, and offer exam-specific tests (CGL, CHSL, MTS, Railway, etc.). Our platform is built by exam experts who understand what appears in real government typing tests.
Our platform works on tablets and larger devices, but we recommend using a desktop or laptop with a physical keyboard for the best typing practice experience. Typing tests require a keyboard, so they won't work on smartphones.
We recommend practising at least 30 minutes daily for consistent improvement. Most students see significant progress within 2–3 months of daily practice. Start with shorter passages to build accuracy, then gradually increase difficulty and duration.
Exam Pattern & Evaluation
Absolutely! Our evaluation engine implements the exact SSC 2026 pattern including the 5-key depression formula, category-based error limits (spelling, punctuation, spacing), WPM and KDPH calculations, and qualified/not-qualified status determination. We've consulted with exam experts to ensure 100% accuracy.
The 5-key depression formula is the standard SSC method for converting total keystrokes to words. It states that 5 key depressions (including spaces and punctuation) equal 1 word. Our platform uses this exact formula to calculate your gross WPM and net WPM after deducting error penalties.
SSC categorises errors into three types: spelling errors, punctuation errors, and spacing errors. Each category has a maximum allowed limit based on the passage length. Our platform tracks each error type separately and determines if you've exceeded the limits for any category, which affects your qualified/not-qualified status.
The minimum qualifying speed varies by exam: SSC CGL requires 35 WPM (English) or 30 WPM (Hindi), SSC CHSL requires 35 WPM (English) or 30 WPM (Hindi), and SSC MTS requires 30 WPM (English) or 25 WPM (Hindi). Additionally, you must stay within the error limits for all three error categories.
Yes! We provide typing tests specifically designed for SSC CGL, CHSL, MTS, Railway, UPSSSC, High Court, and other government exams. Each test type follows its respective exam pattern and evaluation criteria.
Yes! We support both English and Hindi typing. For Hindi, we provide both Inscript and Remington keyboard layouts. You can switch between languages and layouts in your test settings.
